Another name to add to our collection of obscure Irish saints is found on the calendars at January 12. In the case of Saint Laighne we have a patronymic, but knowing that he is the son of Garbhán does not assist Canon O'Hanlon in identifying him:
St. Laighne or Laigne, Son of Garbain.
In the Martyrology of Tallagh, at the 12th of January, there is mention of a St Laigne, son of Garbain. Laighne, son of Garbhán, is set down in the Martyrology of Donegal on this day.
