Saint Sarán, January 13

On January 8 we had a commemoration of a Saint Saran of Cuil-Creamha, now on January 13 we have another saint of this name recorded on the Irish calendars. Today's saint, however, is designated as a bishop, as Canon O'Hanlon explains:

St. Saran, Bishop.

A festival in honour of Saran, a bishop, is entered for the 13th of January, in the Martyrology of Tallagh. More than this announcement we have not been able to discover; for it is only simply repeated in the Martyrology of Donegal, where we find Sarán, bishop, venerated on this day.
